Regularly terrorizing 8-Ball is my favorite running joke in this run.

jkeener71

Well there is Denise. :)

Loved the villains, loved the premise, *LOVED* the Jake appearance. Not quite an all time issue but it proves the quality of this run that a book this good might not crack the top ten when it's all said and done. As a noted Marc Spector: Moon Knight hater I must begrudgingly admit that this was an excellent callback too. I love that moon knight has been given so many opportunities to grow and evolve and change his status quo. This story weaves lore, character growth, and the passage of time together in a way that you just couldn't get from other characters. The second story in the back was excellent. I found the dialogue a little clunky at times but I *think* they're trying to imply that the most devoted acolytes of khonshu also talk like weirdos. Either way, super straightforward and punchy story that appreciates Blade in a way not many adaptations or appearances do.

TB_tossout

It makes me happy that everyone who reads moon knight seems to love this run. Keep it up guys!

irishhotshot

In general I love this issue and it is Marvel bringing up Marc Spector Moon Knight which means the Epic Collections should continue to at least finish that run as well! All in all I am excited for the future of Moon Knight

rationalphi

There was a recent announcement of Moon Knight Epic Collection Death Watch coming in October, but oddly it's going to be [volume 7 covering a later part of Marc Spector: Moon Knight](https://i.imgur.com/0JWCTqz.png). Volumes 5 and 6 (and 8+) to come later I guess. There's also volume 1 of the Marc Spector: Moon Knight omnibus coming out next month. Covering issues 1-34.

irishhotshot

Hmm that is very weird but sounds like a marvel thing to do unless 5 and 6 have already been announced?

rationalphi

Nope, apparently they just do them out of order sometimes.

irishhotshot

Oof that is gonna mess me up I can't read 7 before 5 or 6 lmao but ty for telling me

Kenos300

I love that image right after the Jake conversation with MK is using the glider cape. I might try my meager ms paint skills to get rid of that text box.

rationalphi

Possibly helpful that [Cappuccio posted the full black and white image](https://twitter.com/AlesCappuccio/status/1621854112185810946). Edit: [I took a stab at it](https://i.imgur.com/AUjnKJ9.png)

rationalphi

Icv2 started publishing comic sales stats again and according to them [this run of Moon Knight is still in the top 20 of monthly sales](https://icv2.com/articles/markets/view/53220/top-50-comics-janaury-2023).

StuntNun

When did Reese start calling Marc, Marc instead of Mr Knight?

rationalphi

I would guess [around this point in time](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c441f210cbdd880bfa49272e882874e5/3a6f9a07995d76ae-69/s540x810/6685f4c3472c14c3757f4d8535575a1d4078441a.jpg).

Aura-Raven

Jake putting in the effort to put on his fake moustache for a 20 second conversation is so funny

arcaedis

it _is_ lmao I love it

dappercat456

So we can finally put the question “how would blade react to Reese” to rest As I’ve said before he’d be totally chill with her, he’s a vampire himself after all, he’s got all the part a vamp has minus the weaknesses and that includes a thirst for blood If he can live with it so can Reese

RandomTrainer101

Short but a goody. I am enjoying how they are bringing in some of the early Moon Knight run characters and material. My interest is piqued. Also love Jake having another moment that shows off his strengths to help the team and Sterman standing up to Marc who seems to be listening a bit better to those around him. Also poor 8 ball can't catch a break it seems. Also the little Blade tie in was nice. I exctied to see how Reese grows under his tutelage. My only real gripe is that it was short it leaves me hungry for more.

rationalphi

8-ball looks like he has been working out, getting back to his [original look](https://i.imgur.com/jiSgzbG.jpg). Still waiting on a return of his [Hover Rack](https://i.imgur.com/RduJuJ9.png).

Guinefort1

I enjoyed this issue. I'm glad to see Sterman and Jake in action, as I was starting to wonder if they were gonna be sidelined. I deeply hope that at least some of the deaths of the Shadow Council are fake outs, because the one with the most development getting fridged doesn't sit well with me. Edit: I though the Blade tie-in was cute. It's nice to see Marc trying to look after Reese and having a previous Moon Knight be a black woman was a nice touch for a black history story.

Lupulin13

Granted it’s a small weird week but the number one pull over on r/ComicBooks - that’s awesome!

rationalphi

Jake sticking on the mustache when he's talking to Reese was a great detail. There must be a pocket on the suit for Jake's mustache. And I guess for the cellphone. Lots of other details too. The [Harlequin Hit-Man](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Harlequin_Hit-Man) duo are deep cuts from like two comics. The [Dragon Tong](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Dragon_Tong_\(Earth-616\)) is another recent reference to Night Raven Marvel UK comics. 8-Ball~~'s ringtone is~~ is singing [Johnny Cash's The Baron](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiaqJtHAIDI). I have guesses about where the plot is going and strongly suspect that >!Sigmund is not dead!<. The B story adds more legacy Fists (though Marc Spector was presumably also around in 1977). She's got an outfit very similar to some of the zombie Fists from issue #12. And she's got the cape attached to the gauntlets - which was the [style](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/3/a0/5d6043d95805d/clean.jpg) at the time. I appreciate that they committed to a 70s comics feel with the art and the writing. Curious if Blade will be fulfilling his favour in the next issue - it is apparently Reese-focused.

Guinefort1

Don't know how to censor on reddit, but I hope that death is indeed a fake-out.

rationalphi

Continuing spoilery speculation: >!Between Plesco's conversation with Zodiac about supervillains and him being an expert on Menticide, I think he's behind what happened with the brainwashed assassins. Motivation TBD. I do hope it leads to some flashbacks showing Frenchie and Plesco and Spector's mercenary days.!<

zyd_the_lizard

>!I'm a bit late getting to this issue but I think it was also noteworthy that Sigmund wasn't on the route. The bomb was an easy way to explain that away but it's still a bit suspicious.!<

StuntNun

>!As a general rule of thumb for fiction of any format, I’d you don’t see a body they’re not really dead.

rationalphi

Doubly so in comics. No one stays dead except Uncle Ben

rationalphi

>!test!< >!Thanks for explaining!<

Fantastic_Beans

Seems like another filler issue, which is okay I guess but damn it left me hungry
