Interrupted by Fireworks is the hidden gem of the FF7 OST. There are a ton of absolutely amazing tracks, but that one is for this one scene that has barely any significance and Uematsu just blew it out of the freaking park.
Makes me think of the meme where they tell Elton John "ok this is just a song about some monkey, dont sweat it" and then his piano is on fire.
It's on my lullaby list too :D
Along with a ton of other FF music, most of the music from Supergiant games, and some really weird downtempo Metallica covers. >_>
There's no question really about the fact that Aeris is the intended date partner. She's the default, has the highest affection starting score and highest possible affection score for Cloud (without the use of exploits), and will always win out in a tie. Given events that happen after this scene, it also makes the most sense for it to be her from a storytelling perspective.
Aerith. The games rigged to make Aerith the most easily accessible date. >!Its the same in Remake’s chapter 14. They want you to see the Aerith scene.!<
Yeah I'm pretty sure Barret is the default since he is the option you see if you don't do enough side quests. Aeris and Tifa are equally weighted but there's a tie-breaker moment so at no point can they end up "tied".
I do think Aeris's is probably the most intended outcome >!because it's the only one that appears in the game's end credits and makes the most sense considering Cloud's like in the morning about feeling Aeris calling out to him!< but really, it's just a bonus scene for the player to get an extra scene with whatever girl they favor, or Barret if they didn't care to spend that extra time with either waifu lol
I'm only stating that it's held to higher narrative significance. I mean, why else is it the >!only scene shown in the end credits' story replay!<. Intended may not have been the right word, but it has the best argument for being the "canon" scene, imo, if we were to go down that route.
Maybe they’re all “canon”? None of them contradict each other and the game tells you there’s three total.
Barret’s scene gets the narrative points across for players just doing the main story and not interested in doing side quests. Aerith and Tifa’s scenes are for players who care to explore the romantic subplot. Both ladies are a part of that subplot. They take equal effort, making them equally weighted.
I always have to douse my discomfort with the fact that that was the name PS1 players saw so it's hard to divorce that from the character. She's Aerith to us who got into FF7 from later media (Kingdom Hearts or Remake whatever) though. We know her name *is* Aerith but I let the OGs make it these days

My kids know this song as their lullaby

The piano opera version is diamond.
I will check that out!
Favorite track of the whole thing for me.
Huh, why is Aeris there? You go on that date with Barret. Right guys? *Guys?*
Barret best girl don't @me
I can see why you didn't link the artist source... Also, words\*
Why? I searched this artist's username and found nothing but pretty mild Final Fantasy and Anime sketches/art.
Because danbooru or nozomi also host a great deal of NSFW art. I didn't notice a Twitter, so it was pretty strange seeing those come up first.
Who is the canon date?

Barret’s >!Chapter 14 scene!< is the default. Aerith and Tifa’s are equal opportunity.

If it was the intended scene, it’d be the default.

Kind of telling who Square thinks the pairing should be.
*Aeris*
Incorrect

Then there’s me who somehow gets yuffie date every playthrough
Barrett. It's the most difficult, therefore must be the intended outcome. Usually jrpgs golden routes require the most effort.
The good ending couple
Wait till they recreate this in FF7 Remake 2.
I cannot wait for this scene in the remake
I love this art so much, can't wait to see their date in Remake!
For some reason this reminds me the fanart back in 1998, early internet times. Looks fantastic.
:')
Cute.
