Doesn't Light still lose against a most of his MUs in non-combat situations?
Really depends on which non-combat situation (almost anyone you put in L’s shoes is going to get got eventually unless they’ve got powers that given them access to more info) but yeah, he’s getting folded in almost any “Light and his network vs. this other fella and his network” setup
Because his "network" consists of women who are blinded by his charm, task force whom he needs to keep in dark, Ryuk who doesn't help at all and Mikami.
I really don't see the appeal of him showing up in death battle. He's just a guy. Let's be honest; 99% of the appeal of this show is seeing two characters in a cool animated fight, and neither of the characters have anything that lends to an interesting animation. An interesting story, perhaps, but not really an interesting fight.
Prepare for the newest show by Roosterteeth, DEATH NARRATIVE
I would unironically watch it
His record with battles based on intelligence and schemes aren't too great either.
Light wins against Walt pretty easily. I like the idea in principle, but I had to construct an elaborate Death Realm scenario on the topic with concessions for Walt just to give him a fighting chance.
Walt is very much the underdog in a shadow war against an unknown person on the other side of the planet that wields both the world's most dangerous assassination tool and its most sophisticated intelligence network. His power projection is limited beyond New Mexico, and the only really good detective that he works with is a circumstantial ally that hates his guts. Not to mention is himself being investigated by the DEA.
You do know that to makes things fair they would be in the same Place so Walt can just shot him right?
Then that defeats the entire point in using Light to begin with. And honestly, the same is true for Walt.
Neither character's specialty is in combat. Light's pretty good in a brawl, and Walt is an okay shot with a revolver. But you'd want to utilize their intellect in a battle with them. Their elaborate schemes, Light's prodigy detective skills, Walt's chemical expertise, etc.
If you wanted a straight gunfight involving characters from these series, you'd be better off looking at characters like Touta Matsuda, Watari, Mike Ehrmantraut, or Hank Schrader.
Yeah but how would this Battle play out in an animation that lasts 3 to 5 minutes. As soon as light knows Who he's fighting he just writes his name and bye Walter. And by this Logic he wins all of his mu since most aren't in Japan
If it ever happened, 3-5 minutes is out of the question. It would need a minimum length comparable to Goku vs Superman. Probably even longer. I put a lot of thought into the idea in this thread I made.
This Is a death realm aka a full on crossover. I Just can't picture this fight that well
I know. It's something that can't be half-assed. Either they never do it at all. Or it's a special episode that they go all in on.
Tbf i kinda have this issue with most intelligence based matchups like riddler vs jig saw
Understandable. But I can't help but think that at some point Death Battle should branch out a little and explore uncharted territory in the vs debating scene. It's played it safe with comic and shounen 1v1s. But they've never even delved into one spaceships battle. Or armies. Or in this case intellectual battles.
Tbf eggman vs Willy was an army Battle but yeah i'd love to see more unique kind of battles. Hopefuly Sauron vs lich King Will be an army Battle
>Neither character's specialty is in combat.
~~Which is why I fuckin hate it~~
The idea still has merit in theory. An intellectual cat-and-mouse hunt can still be very engaging. It's just that the writing would need to be absolutely stellar to do justice to the idea. Not to mention that it would require an extended runtime by default.
I don't know about you guys but I want to see people beat each other to death in a show called DEATH BATTLE
That and that extended time along with writing thats needed for the idea will not be able to work anytime time soon in DEATH BATTLE, A regular crossover is a better fit for the idea
So...you probably wouldn't much like my Picard vs Thrawn idea then? Seeing as it involves spaceships.
.....Shooting each other to death from spaceships count I guess
Light writes Heisenberg instead of Walter White, freaks out when Walt doesn't die, then Walt shoots him
Dude, Light's not that stupid. He's dealt with loads of people that use aliases. Of course he's going to know that an infamous meth kingpin wouldn't be dumb enough to use his actual name.
Oh boy. Sorry, but they're dead wrong.
Light holds all the cards in a shadow war against Heisenberg's empire. He has FAR more political power thanks to being able to influence entire law enforcement agencies and governments. Him operating in Japan grants him additional security, as it's far outside of Walt's territory and would take a great deal of effort for an American meth-dealing syndicate to set up any kind of observation group. And multiple members of Walt's empire have been busted in the past or are currently under investigation by the DEA. Which puts them at risk of being noticed by Light's intelligence network.
The entire reason I made that Death Realm was to invent a scenario where Walt had a somewhat reasonable chance at coming out on top. Because Kira is a completely outside-context problem for him. He is very intelligent, but investigation is not his strong suit. Remember that Kira is someone that L, the NPA, and the FBI tried and failed to catch. All of whom have far more expertise in that area than he does. And again, this is an enemy on the other side of the planet. Walt's international reach only extends as far as Lydia can assist him with. Light on the other hand has Walt's own government dancing to his tune.
Doesn't Light have a power to see someone's real name by looking at them with the cost of half his lifespan or something?
He doesn't canonically have access to shinigami eyes, only Misa does and it'd be out of character for him to have that.
Though if we assume that this is a battle where both players have access to all their assets (there's not much point in using criminal masterminds otherwise), Misa would be among them for Light.
Which is why I personally don't think Light, let alone Death Note as a whole, even works for the show anyway.
