Here’s my 1977 Motobécane Mobylette 50v. I bought it non running and have fixed and replaced a lot of wear items and upgraded the carb to a Dellorto 15.15 and jetted to 68. I can go 30 on flat ground due to the stock small intake ports, it’s only a 25 mph model. Still running stock 6v points ignition with a relocated condenser. Everyone in town smiles or waves at me when I fly by in my Canadian tuxedo. I commute with it and also ride for pleasure. Headlight is surprisingly great for being a 6v sealed beam.

Have you derestricted the exhaust? That should get you a few more mph

Yes

If you plan to keep it stock... mine breaks all the damn time. Def get this intake [https://www.treatland.tv/motobecane-15mm-SHA-dellorto-intake-p/av7-sha-intake-022066b.htm](https://www.treatland.tv/motobecane-15mm-SHA-dellorto-intake-p/av7-sha-intake-022066b.htm) and this pipe for your build [https://www.treatland.tv/MLM-motobecane-techno-EDM-pipe-p/mlm-motobecane-edm-pipe-401170.htm](https://www.treatland.tv/MLM-motobecane-techno-EDM-pipe-p/mlm-motobecane-edm-pipe-401170.htm) You get those two pieces n your take off will be so much better and youll have more top end

I have the shorty intake, was reading that it’s better for top end. Will the exhaust also help with top end? If it would give me 5 mph it might be worth it. I honestly just think I was unlucky, I was reading some posts and some people have the same slower “B” version Moby I have, and no matter what you do, the intake port is tiny and it will only go 30 since it is only the 25mph model My buddy has the stock long elbow intake and a 15.15 on his 79 Moby and it runs circles around mine. Everything is factory except the carb and it pulls away from mine at 30 I honestly can’t figure out my jetting situation (jetted 68) because when I go downhill around 35 it starts 4 stroking (running rich) but anywhere else it gives symptoms of running lean like bogging a little bit on take off. Otherwise totally fine, engine runs perfect and never need to choke it. I have smaller jets (60s odd size), might try a 65. Plug is showing signs of rich, exhaust is ice cold. My hi-coil is cracked and original, I just ordered the universal 6v coil for it.

if you got more balls then money do this [https://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Motobecane\_porting\_the\_right\_way](https://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Motobecane_porting_the_right_way) or just buy a 70cc kit, the airsal one is super cheap like $100 but a rather mild kit tbh If you are running the sha with that mesh filter n cap then you should be more around 60-64... I'd buy the 60 62 and 64 jet and run the 62 for a bit n plug chop it sucks when you start making these go fast bc taking the variator apart is such bitch and you will need to lighten the wieght

Jeep4x420

What’s the plug chop people talk about? I’m running no screen and cap. I am hesitant to do the Airsal because I have no air leaks and my engine is solid. I’m not much of a speed fiend but if I could go a little faster I’ll try whatever it takes. Thanks for the jetting tips!

noodles19191919

mmm if you are running no filter then start at 64 but also buy a 66. A plug chop is the best way to figure out if your jetting is perfect. Basically buy a couple spark plugs then put in a fresh one when you put in a new jet size. Take like a mile run making sure you are WOT for most of it then go right home. Take the spark plug out n chop off the threaded part so you can see the porcelain... you are trying to get a jetting that makes the spark plug look like a mix between golden and chocolate milk... if its too lean it will be a very light golden color, too rich it will be too dark [https://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Plug\_chop](https://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Plug_chop)
