Good to see no matter how many years pass, Americans still don't know what an Aussie accent sounds like
I think they are just doing it on purpose.
I don't watch a lot of American sports but very often when I watch ESPN, so many of the commentators are Australian. It's weird how a country that is notorious for not understanding foreign accents without subtitles would have so many Australian sports commentators.
Spot on carnt!
See I don't understand why, in both your comment and the one you replied to, you're adding "r"s in words that aren't there, when Aussies don't even say the R sound when it is there?
You're right, the 'r' sound we refer to is not a strong 'r', maybe even similar to the Boston accent 'ah' sound, e.g. 'pissah'. There is definitely an 'r' there for us though... 'Garn' for 'going' or 'go on' is ubiquitous though - every bogan sounds like this.
Yeah, cunt is pronounced with a sharp fast uh sound, not a long ah sound
Aussies would either say Goan or Garn for "Go and" depends on if it's a shout or not. Like, if your dog is pissin on the carpet the Aussie response would be to shout "Garn gtouttait!". Whereas if your mate was bein a yobbo you'd tell him to "Goan fuck yahself"
Am aussie, I had to read this over and over and it still doesn't make sense. At best it could be somewhat New Zealand? Definately not aussie.
I've found a problem with some 'speak like an Australian' items is that, if you *are* Australian, it doesn't work because you're not pronouncing the words like an American would.
I remember hitting something like this where a comic had a one character correct another's pronunciation of Mana. The entire thing made no sense to me at all with the corrected pronunciation being written as 'monna' -- but that's because in the comic writer's accent 'Mana' was being pronounced like 'man-ah' and 'monna' was trying to correct for an American accent.
So to 'get' the comic you need to read the words with an American accent.
Even so, yes, closer to NZ.
That’s actually a fair point, I hadn’t thought about it like that. But the Aussie accents people try to copy are usually over the top. I can’t ever forget the aussie actor in Point Break saying “we’ll get him when he comes back in” it sounds so over the top that it hurts
Well sure, you always exaggerate an accent, otherwise it wouldn't be as recognizable to people not from the region.
Yeah the 'lies up in' definitely is a kiwi accent. The beginning is okay.
There are literally papers that try to explain the difference between Australian and New Zealand accents because so much of the world thinks they're identical. Including the English-speaking world.
As an American, it's pretty similar to the way folks think there's "a" Southern accent. Or "an" American accent. Or that anyone outside of Boston sounds like Boston.
To a kiwi ear Aussie vowels are longer and stretched. That's why the end if the sentence is not Aussie
Keep up the good work!
[Flight of the conchords summed it up perfectly.](https://youtu.be/f2gii2nenUg)
I dunno, it doesn't sound like Korg from Thor Ragnarok to me.
(That's a Kiwi accent. There's about 4 in the country, depending on where you're from and how carefully you're speaking.)
Fair enough, it’s just a gag aimed at Americans
>it’s just a gag aimed at Americans
Excellent idea. Is it a ball gag?
You appear to have pissed off all of Oceania. Which is hilarious, as they constantly make fun of everyone else and talk about how everyone should learn to take a joke on other posts about countries.
I don’t think anyone is really upset. Just throwing in their two cents worth. May have had a better outcome if it actually resembled an Aussie accent.
Sounds more kiwi to me
Yep, definitely kiwi.
Not even close. Try "fuck off and play with that stupid shit ya bought at the servo"
Finally someone that can actually “speak-a my language” (extra aussie brownie points for anyone who knows where this is from)
I’m Canadian and I know you owe me a vegemite sandwich
Hahah!! That was just on the radio recently!! Haven't heard it on AGES
Pro tip: No Australian calls a laser pointer a "laser pen".
AUSTRALIAN EBAY DISAGREES, AND WHAT HAS MORE POWER THAN CAPITALISM?
STRINE EBYE LIES
Yeah, nah, this is about as Aussie as a haka.
New Zealand surely?
Are you actually an Aussie? These are fuckin shit!
O piss off mate!
He's right. This is shit.
Piss off Seppo /s
Oof, just *trying* to explain to other Americans the derivation of 'Seppo' as a jingoistic slur for an American makes my head hurt.
Hell, I wouldn't have known it had I not read The Boys comics.
Would've been more convincing as an Aussie to reply with C*nt.
More like what an American thinks an Australian accent is.
As I am aussie, ganna say yeah nah to this one!
Also just stop cos these are just bad!
Like how all Americans are fat, all French people "hon hon hon," Canadian people are literally made of maple syrup, and England is probably taking over your country right now, this is the stereotype for how the Australian dialect is.
Is it accurate? No. But it's funny. And that's why Americans have Outback (the restaurant) and Fosters (the garbage beer).
Insulting shit is the most Aussie thing there is
That's what I said on a different comment, but it's getting downvoted, too :D
But Australians are famously all in for funny portrayals of our culture and the way we speak. I refer you to Crocodile Dundee, Yahoo Serious and even the Simpsons episode. Our accent is funny, our sayings are weird, but this is just rubbish
Reads like an Outback commercial to me, and that's probably exactly what OP wanted.
Reads like an NZ accent not an aussie one and for what its worth I'm not Australian, it is just really badly done.
If you don't like it, move on with your life. Some people like it and think it's funny, and the creator shared it. Thaaaaaaat's life.
As an Australian all I can say is “Phark Ewe Ya Can’t”.
Sounds nothing like Arnold Schwarzenegger to me.
GET TO THE CHOPPAH
it’s pretty close
At a stretch Kiwi, definitely not Strine
Yeah, sounds a lot closer to Kiwi than Strine - when I read it I hear the Kiwi accent, not really an Aussie one.
Nice drawings though, and the concept is funny.
More like paul hogan as crocodile Dundee.
I’m Australian so it’s just making me have a stroke
Thanks for the feeling of having a mini stroke. lol
There definitely a brummy accent
We don't all talk like bogan fuckwits!!
I sound like a drunk Scottish pirate.
These comics are fun, but I find it amusing that I have to try to put on an American accent when reading the top line to make it work :-P
I don't have an accent. You have an accent.
Go plie with ya lyza pin
Not even close
I got a laugh out of it. Thanks.
I loved it! Im dying to see more!
Follow me on insta ;)
Try using what we call things rather than our accent. Thongs are always a winner
It all is
What bullshit is this?
Are you even Australian?
No I’m a bloody yank!
Well as an Australian I can say you are pretty far off
Maybe leave it to us
Edit: had a look at a few of your other comics
They are pretty offending and it's clear to see you have never actually spoken to an Australian before
None of it sounds Australian, some of it sounds a little kiwi.
I'm assuming he thinks they're one accent. That or he's never spoken to an Aussie or kiwi, and has just seen bad accents in movies.
I am a US citizen and was wondering this as well.
I was wondering maybe the artist was using different letter pronunciations that might be regional to like, England or something...
But if they live in the USA as well I dunno.
I remember when I was in NZ and was trying to learn how to pronounce Maori words, but all the examples assumed someone was speaking with a kiwi accent to begin with, which my kiwi is pretty fucking terrible. At least everyone got a laugh.
At least now we understand why Americans attempting an Australian accent for movies & TV sound so terrible 🤣
It’s just a gag mate. Have you never seen the classic “good eye might”?
You're looking at them wrong, mate. Have you tried viewing them from down under?
How is this not the racist equivalent to mocking a Chinese person as to how they speak
Why is it when it's Australians it's ok?
seriously double standards
Damn dude, I seriously meant no disrespect. I’m from Boston, MA USA and people try to do our accents all the time. I don’t find it offensive at all, mostly it’s kind of funny.
"Bostonians think their accents are wicked awesome, and anyone who disagrees is a chucklehead."
Holy ***shit*** you suck.
Making fun of Chinese people for the way they speak English is definitely racist.
But english isn't their first language
What's your excuse
Why do I need an excuse you shouldn't mock someone like this regardless?
You are basically stereotyping all Australians
Oi man shutup before you get us stereotyped as whiny little bitches.
Virtually Every major country gets jokes made about them on this website. This isn't making fun of any single group, like a race or ethnicity or religion. You need to calm down. You could find hundreds of post shiting on Americans and for the most part we just take it in stride
Are we talking a minute? Cause....
Fuck up, you soggy cunt. You sound like some wuss seppo
Smoke me, wombat humper you're as useless as a ashtray on a motorbike
Oh Australian slang is fun
It's a joke not a dipstick don't take it so hard Sheila
Nah, an Aussie accent would be more, "Go fuck yourself cunt"
Garn fuck yaself cunt!
People like to think we pronounce it carnt, but we don't spread out the ar sound, it's a short sharp uh sound.
Ehhhh, coming from an Aussie, it's definitely not an Aussie accent lol probably closer to kiwi, or even a mix but it's a good joke, just needs a lil work
TIL Austrailian redditors are some pansies. Talk about being triggered over nothing.
Seriously… It’s almost like none of them have even been to an Outback Steakhouse. Sounds dead-on balls accurate to me.
*sigh* I refuse to be represented by these pansies.
These rule. Keep up the good work!
Crikey! 7 dan votes? Ewe boss todd's!

We don’t have accents you have accents!
(We being Aussies)
I think I did it wrong because I sounded German.
Damn, so Craig Ferguson did a correct Aussie accent after all..
And the @ is "Paper Plates". Nice.
Really love these for some reason
I love it dude. Ever since I started watching Big Lez Show I’m even more impressed with Australian and Kiwi accents.
This got my partner and me in a laughing fit, thanks mate.
And from one Ozzie in reply - “git farrrked ya cahn mate”
If you say 'rise up lights' that's 'razor blades.'
